I make all my jewellery by hand in my workshop in York, I start with recycled sterling silver sheet or wire and form it using traditional tools such as a a fretsaw, hammer, pliers and an archimedes drill. I don't use any power tools, it's just not necessary. I file and polish by hand using needle files, sandpaper and cloths to get the finish I want, often leaving some areas slightly "rough" for texture, or using a wire brush for a matte finish.
Most pieces are one-of-a-kind designs, and even when ideas are repeated the making process makes each piece as unique as you are. I take inspiration from the metal itself, the way it wants to move when I shape it, but also from the things I see daily as I walk around the city. I have named each piece for a street in York.
I am lucky enough to have a small stock of genuine Swarovski Crystal beads, which are now discontinued, I use them for added colour and sparkle, they are the best quality faceted crystal, with excellent refraction.
Weights and measurements are approximate and given for information only, I do my best to be accurate but it's not always easy to measure irregular shapes. I weigh the finished jewellery including any crystal but excluding any chain, weights should be accepted as accurate to the nearest gram. I try to represent colours correctly, but lighting conditions and screen settings vary, so please bear this in mind.
